I. Zimmerman to go to that city and bid on a two story business block 00x100 feet in size. The total numborof bands collected during tho two months ex ceeded 85,000. Accidents to Well Known People. John Keith, now living at Holly wood, Calif , writes a North Platte friend that he sustained a sprained ankle, sprained wrist and severe bruises on tho body a short time ago while alighting from a moving street car. The car was moving more rapidly than Mr. Keith anticipated and he was thrown to the ground with the above results. In n letter to The Tribune. George Carter, who is nbw sojourning at Los Angeles, says he was mixed up in an auto accident and sustained a frac ture of the right arm. His brother, who is a physician, at once reduced the fracture. George adds "I wish you would tell the North Platte gun club boys to come out to Denver to the big shoot, and if I can't 'trim' them with two hands, I will do it with one." Putting Down Wells. , To obtain an adequate water supply the water department contemplates putting down twenty-one new wells, six of which have been completed. These wells range from sixty to seven ty-five feet in depth. The output of each well is estimated at one hundred gallons per minute, or a combined sup ply of 2100 gallons for the twenty-one wells, which is the maximum capacity of the new pump that will be in stalled within the next sixty days. It is not the intention to put tho w wells in service until the new pump is installed. With these new wells, two new boilers and a 3-million gallon capacity pump, it would teem that beginning with next year tho water supply will bo greater than the needs, even taking into consideration tho extension to tho mains that are now being made. Sam Bowers Takes His Life, Sam Bowers, who has made his home in or near tho city for fifteen or more years, committed suicide Sunday after noon by drinking a bottle of laudanum. Bowers and his wife had not lived peacoably for some time, and several weeks ago separated. This separation' was followed ten days ago by Mrs. Bowers filing a petition for divorce. Sunday forenoon Bowers visited the house and attempted a reconciliation with his wife, and failing in this pulled out a bottle of laudanum and drank the contents. A physician and the sheriff were immediately summoned who worked vigorously to revive him and were to somo extent successful. He was then removod to tho Pulvcr hospi tal and the medical attention continued and for a timo it was thought he would recover, but later he grew worso and ho died nt nine o'clock in tho evening. The manner in which tho corn crop proceeded to recover from the effects of the dry weather when onco it began to rain has been remarkable to say tho least. For a time it looked as if the crop would amount to little, it was backward, short and anything but promising. Within a few daya after rain came the fields looked altogether different the stalks had climbed from inches to feet, there was n healthy color and great growth. Now In many fielas tho roasting ear stage is past and there is every reason to hope for fair yields, considering the in-roads mado by cutworms in the spring. Sutherland Free Lance. Notice to Bids.
