THAT'S the way a watch is

Only an expert should be al

by four days and eleven hours. Tho
previous record was held by a Franklin

Contracts to Deliver Goods.
Chas. A. Moore, formerly foreman
at the stockyards, has made a contract
with four of the grocery houses to de
liver goods, and in making this contract
takes over part of the delivery outfits.
The four firms who have made contracts
with Mr. Moore aro: Wilcox Dept. Store,
Rush Mercantile Co., Grceson and
Tramp. Under this arrangement goods
will be delivered moro promptly and
with less cost to tho sellers. For in
stance when goods aro to bo delivered
in tho extreme portions of tho city in
stead of ono or two deliveries from each
individual grocery, the same wagon will
deliver at the same time the orders to
that part of the city from all four of
tho dealers. It can readily bo seen that
this means moro prompt delivery, for
it would be natural for a grocer upon
receiving an order from-a distant point
to delay for a short time tho delivery
in expectancy of further orders from
the same sections; and it can also be
readily seen that in delivering a wagon
load- of goods tho percentage of cost
is much less than delivering n box of
matches, as is often tho case. There
are thirty-six miles of streets in North
Platte. To deliver goods on all tho
streets means a mighty amount of daily
driving.
In making a schedule of deliveries,
which is printed elsewhere, and in doub
ling up on deliveries, tho grocers havo
certainly adopted a good plan.

The City Primary.
Tho vote in the city primary was
heavier than was expected,' tho total
reaching over COO. The exact vote on
the several candidates will not be known
until tho canvass is made, but the un
ofllicial returns give Burkett a major
ity of 88 over Whedon for tho repub
lican nomination for U. S. senator and
Hitchcock a majority of 35 over Met-
calf for the same office. For governor
Cady led Aldrich 48 votes, and Duhlman
had a majority of 82 over Shallenberg
er. Dnhlmnn's vote was not much of a
surprise, as considerable work hnd been
done for him, and his presence here
last week influenced somo votes. For
congressman Kinkaid had G3 votes over
Beeman, his closest competitor, and for
tho same office Dean had 48 majority
over tho next highest man. For stato
senator Hoagland received 51 more
votes than Stewart. Dr. McCabo re
ceived 33 votes for stato senator, that
number writing his name on the ballots.
Belated returns from the country
precincts were received last evening
and the official canvass is hoing made
today.

Aldrich and Dahlman Lead.
Today's Beo has this to say of tho
result on governor at the Tuesday
primary: Iteturns from U3U precincts,
which include Douglas, Lancaster
Dodge, York, Madison and other pop
ulous counties such as Hall, show tho
following voto on governor as the re
sult of Tuesday's primary election.
Aldrich 12.353, Cady 11,384, Dahlman
20,733, Shallcnbergor 17,150.
This showing includes perhaps two-
thirds of tho voto that was cast. If
this is true, tho nomination of Dahl
man by tho democrats is assured, for
Shallenborcer will havo to havo two to
ono in tho remaining precincts in order
to win, and it is unlikely that ho will
un that strong. Botween Aldrich and
Cady tho race is getting very close.
While the probabilities are in favor of
Aldrich, it is not out. of tho range of
possibility that Cady may overhaul him.
A message to Tho Bee from it's stall
correspondent thore says:
Governor Shnllenbergor believes he
nominated, busing his belief on
telephone messages ho has received
from friends out in tho stato. He has
information on sixty-three counties,
which ho says give him a majority of
71.
Tho covernor has no information
whether tho counties aro reporting the
combined populist and democratic voto
for Shallenberger. If this is being done
the Shallenberger voto will bo cut
down tho extent of tho populist vote
which has been counted for him.

Aldrich run well in tho stnte and cut
down tho big lead that was given Cady
in Douglas county. Ho will probably
be nominated, but tho final figures will
not show a very wido spread botween

which ho increased in Lancaster, and
the Shallenberger precincts havo not
been sufficiently numerous to reduce
the Dahlman advantage very much. At
