Tho wheat on tho Edmisten farm
southeast of town, of which there are
over 200 acres, has been harvested and
stacked. It is conservatively estimated
that this wheat will yield twenty bush
els to the acre.
Rov. L. P. Luddon, of Lincoln, secre
tary of the Board of Homo Missions,
visited friends In town yesterday morn
ing, while enrouto home Rev. Ludlen
spent Sunday in Sutherland on business
connected with his office.
Last Wednesday night a thief en
tered the residence of Wm. Lehr, of
Medicine precinct, and stole four hun
dred dollars in cash and eleven hun
dred dollars in certificates of deposit.
The thief will not be nble to realize
tho cash on the certificates.
A number of local railroad employes
are planning on attending the railroad
men's celebration at Denver on August
20th, It is expected that 5,000 em
ployes will march in tho big parade,
following which a basket picnic will be
held nt Lakeside park, where addresses
will bo made by P. II. Morrisaoy, Gov
ernor Shnfroth and Mayor Speer.

of much merrymaking Sunday when the
twelve young Indies in camp assisted by
tho two chapurons entertained to their
best ability their guests from town,
Shortly after their arrival dinner was
served in 'true picnic style and was
thoroughly enjoyed by all. Tin plates
wero laid for forty-seven. A fishing
trip enmo noxt in order, followed by a
ball game which proved a very exciting
oyent, errors and home runs forming
tho special fenturo of tho game. A

noon nnd incidentally spoiled appetite
for supper. In tho ovening a camp firo
was built and several hours spent in
singing nnd tolling stories. A war danco
by tho "good Indians" closed a very
joyful day for all and tho young peoplo

Tho average condition of corn in Ne
braska on August 1st as reported by
the department of agriculture was sixty-five
per cent, as compared with

year is given at thirty-three million
