that work on the now Union Pacific

Children's Day at Garfield.
One of tho best exercises over" held
in this part of tho county was held at
tho Garfield M. E. Church on Juno 26th.
t being tho day observed as Children's
Day at that place. It was a beautiful
day and all present could not get into
tho church.
Mrs. Auble, the Supt. of tho Sunday
School, nnd all those who took part in
trie training oi tnose wno tooK part m
tho execcises deserve a great deal of
credit for their successful work.
The young ladies and young men wero
very successful in preparing their parts
and the community can well bo proud of
them na well as the younger ones.
The young Indies presented a wreath
drill which showed much patient practice
and thought.
At tho closo of tho exercises Rev
L. B. Shallenberger, tho pastor,
spoke a few words of encouragement
and pronounced the exorcises as one of
tho best ho ever had the pleasure of
attending. Ho nlso presented tho
clnimb of Children's Day and an offer
ing wns taken which amounted to $6.20
for tho. M. E. Church Educational
Fund. Ho was very much plensed with
the same.
The pastor will orgahize a Baraca
class next Sunday morning. All the
young people aro urged to be present

the City of North Platte, Lincoln coun
ty, Nebraska, to the curb lino on the
north side of B street and beginning at
the curb line on tho south side of B
street, from thence in a southerly direc

ordinance of said City, passed and ap
proved on the 21st day of June, 1906:

and coarse gravel and cement, nnd shall
bo boarded at tho edges with perma
nent material in manner bb provided by
the general ordinance of said Citv.
Sassed and approved the 21st day of
uno 1906.
Section 2. That the owners of tho
lota along which this sidewalk so es
tablished by this ordinance, ns described
in Section Ono hereof, are hereby re
quired to construct said sidewalk with
out delay, and have the same completed
within 30 days from the publication or
service of notice as provided by the
general sidewalk ordinance, passed and
approved on tho 21st day of Juno 1906.
And if any of the owners shall fail to
comply with this ordinanco and notice
when given, tho city authorities shall
proceed with the construction of said
sidewalk, nt tho expense of tho delin
quent owners of snid lots as provided in
said general sidewalk ordinance, passed
and approved on tho 21st day of June,
1906, and the amount of costs and ex
penses for the construction of said side
walk nnd collection of tho Bame, shall
be collected by special assessment or
tax levied against the lot or lots nlong
which said city is required to construct
the same.
Section 3. This ordinance shall take
effect and be in force from and after
its passage according to law.

and city council, this 5th day of July,

sewer of Baid block, running thence in
a southerly direction on the line be
tween said lota 2 and 3 nnd on the cen
ter line of the alley of said blocks 1 and
2 of Banks' Addition to tho city of North
Platte and said block 6 of South Park
addition to tho city of North Platte, to
where tho center of said alley inter
sects with the south line of said block 6
South Park addition; to be constructed
of sewer pipes 10 inches in diameter
with proper flush tanks, mnn holes and
proper appliances; providing for nn es
timate of the cost 'thereof and for bid3
and for making a contract for said
lateral sewer: also providing for the
levying against the abutting lots ac
cording to the front footage thereof,
along tho line of said sower, special
assessments to pay the cost of con
structing the same.
Be it ordained by.the mayor and city
council of the city of North Platte, Ne
braska: Section 1. That a lateral sower dis
trict, to be known as lateral sewer dis
trict "G 3" be formed from blocks 1
and 2 Banks' nddition to the city of
North Platte and block 6 of the South
Park addition to the city of North
Platte, Nebraska.
Section 2. That a lateral sewer be
constructed of 10 inch sewer pipes nt
the proper deptn und on n grade re
quired by the present sewer system of
said city, commencing where the
dividing line botwecn lots 2 and 3
in block 1 intersect the main
sewer of said block, running
thence in a southerly direction on a line
between said lots 2 and 3 nnd on the
center line of the alley of said blocks
1 and 2 of Banks' addition and block 6
of South Pnrk addition to the City of
North Platto to where the center lino
of said alloy intersects with the south
lino of said block 6 of South Park
addition to tho city of North Platte,
together with tho necessary man holes,
flush tanks and nppliances nlong the
line of said proposed lateral sewer.
Section 3. That tho engineer of said
city, at once prepare and file with the
clerk thereof, an estimate of tho total
cost of said proposed lateral sewer.
Section 4. That after said estimate
is made and filed as herein provided,
that tho clork of said city proceed at
once to advortiso in manner nnd form
required by law. for bids for the con
struction of said lateral Bower and ap
pliances, reserving to said city the
right to reject any nnd nil bids there
for. Section 5. If nn npprpved bid be
mode for said work, that a contract
therefor bo entered into by the mayor
of said city, attested by tho clork, witli
tho necessary provisions protecting tho
interests of said city, upon the con
tractor furnishing a boncf in sufficient
amount fo'rth'a, faithful performance
Of the eaid contract.
. Section 6. To pay the. .costs of con
struction tf said lateral sewer, flush
tanks, man holes hnd appliances, a
special assessment shall be levied ac
cording to law against the lots abutting
upon the lino of said lateral sewer, ac
cording to the foot frontage thereof.
Section 7. This ordinance shnll take
effect nnd be in forco from nnd after
