George Stevens Diet.
George Stevens, who for several
months had been snfTering from tuber
culosis, died at tho Third ward hospital
Saturday evening about six thirty. For
soveral years tho deceased had filled the
position of janitor of tho First Nation
al Bank and of tho Episcopal church.
Ho was an Englishman by birth and a
staunch Episcopalian. Funeral ser
vices were held at the Episcopal church
yeBterday afternoon conducted by Rev.
Chapman.

ington shows a phenoniinal increase in
the last twenty years in the value of
wealth produced on farms of the
United States. Figures prepared by
the statisticans of the department of
agricultural shows tho increaso to havo
been $6,00,000,000 in the period from
1889 to the close of last year. In 1889
the value of the wealth' produced on
farms of tho United States was $2,460,
000,000; ten years later it was $4,717,-
000,000 and last year, according to tho
preliminary estimate just issued, it was
$8,760,000,000.
