COMMISSIONERS' PROCEEDINGS. I !ilSt;!fc
JFRIDAY, JANUARY 28, 1910.
$ '' Aiaportanlty lo Antiit.
The furniture for the now Presbyter
ian church is being placed, the walls
have been handsomely decorated, the
electric light fixtures have been or
dercd, the $2,G00 pipe organ will arrive
in about thirty days, and the splendid
now edlflco will bo dedicated about
Easter time, probably Easter Sunday,
This building which complete will cost
a little In excess of $25,000, is certainly
a credit to tho city, not only in arch
itectural beauty, but in modern ap
pointments and conveniences. With
dimensions' 65x90 feet, provided with
parlors, kitchen, pantry, toilet rooms
and furnaco room on the ground floor,
and auditorium, Sunday school room,
primary room and pastor's Btudy on
tho main floor, the building is certain
ly one which will moqt tho require
ments of tho congregation for the
present as well as the future. The
seating capacity of the auditorium is
COO.
So far tho congregation has bomo the
whole cost of the'bliildiug proper, and
all bills to date have been paid, but
there yet remains to bo paid a balance;
on tho heating plant, the fyrnlturo,
carpets, electric light fixtures, the
organ and money borrowed to complete
tho amount due tho contractor, the
wholo amounting to about six thousand
dollars. To meet part of tills amount
duo, the trustees will ask the people of
North Platte to subscribe In such
amounts as they feel they can afford,
and subscriptions from all will bo re
ceived, whether the amount Is ten cents
or $100.00. A committeo started out
witna subscription paper yesterday,
and the few of our citizens approached
responded in tho right spirit
Tho now church is ono in which we
can all take a pride; its beauty, size
and conveniences appeals to all who
visit the city, and the stranger within
our gates, or the one who comes hero
with a view of establishing a home,
must at once conclude that the moral
atmosphere of a town containing such
a building is good it is an advertise
ment for the city that will bring re
sults. The Tribune therefore believes
that every citizen of North Plattet re
gardless of denominational preference.
should contribute to tho fund needed to
meet tho obligations, and should make
such contributions cheerfully.
The mombers of tho congregation
have cortainly'dono tholr full part In
meeting tho expenses to dato; let us as
citizens contributo tho nmount yet
needed; so that on tho day of dedica
tion it can ue satu to tho credit of our
people that ihe splendid building has
been consecrated to tho moral uplift of
tho town frco of debt.

Maxwell Merchants Adopt Cash Plan.
We the undersigned business men and merchants of Maxwell, Lincoln county, Nebraska,
covenant and agree with each other to adopt the following rule in our various lines of business, viz:
On and After February 15th, 1910, We Will
Sell for Cash, Note or Produce Only . . .
We request that all persons who are indebted to us shall make arrangements to settle all old ac
counts on or before suid date. We are willing to do this in a satisfactory manner.
We are making this change for several excellent reasons and only after carefully considering
all sides of the question. We believe it will be a distinct gain for our customers even more than
for ourselves. In a cash business all losses on bad accounts from whatever cause are avoided, book
keeping and collection accounts are done away with, there is no possibility of disputes and wrangles
over accounts, the merchant always has ready money to buy goods at the lowest spot cash prices
and profit by all discounts for cash.
To make up for these losses and various expenses wo have been forced to charge enough for
our goods to cover them by the profits. Every store doing a credit business must do this or quit
The people of this community want low prices, they want us to meet outside competition, to
which they must pay cash. We can do this on a cash basis, in fact, can guarantee you, at least n
good saving on your purchases. This change of policy does not mean n sacrifice of quality or
going back on the standard set ourselves. In every single item we shall give you better goods for
the same price, or tho same article for less where there has not been an advance in price. This
change, too, implies no question of, or reflection on any one's ability to pay what he honestly owes
or his willingness. It simply gives us the means to serve our customers better. The generous
patronage you have given us we appreciate. We want you to continue it and we shall make it
richly worth your while by the much closer price and cash business will enable us to quote.
Wc will sell for cash, note or produce only. No credit account will be run with anyone after Feb

to Know that plays that nro eminently

to this fact that when "Tho, House of
