Tho waterworks company by their
legal advice say that by tho vory act
of having tho plant appraised, the city
is dbliged to buy and to pay tho amount
named by tho appraisors. They baso
thoir claim on tho portion of tho ordi
nanco which says "Whon said apprais-
ors or a majority of them, by an
agrooment in writing, shall havo com
pleted their award, tho city shall pay
to tho said watorworks company, its
associates, successors or assigns, in
cash, tho sum so ascertained within
three months from tho dato of .said
award." Thoy say that the city has
already bought tho plant for tho ap
praised valuo of $85,021 and tho city is
indebted to tho company for said
amount nnd unless tho city pays such
amount, tho water company will suo
reaching $3,000 and the receipts $2,100,
leaving a deficit of $900, which, will bo
promptly and cheerfully paid by tho
body of men nnd womon who woro
