FRIDAY, JANUARY 29. 19W.
"Nebraska SnrnJiine."
Boxes and barrels together with
packages In mall came In, In a Koodly
number, and the week before Christ
mas was a busy one, for there boxes
and bundles must be unpacked and re
packed and sent on their mission of
cheer. The state president was assisted
in tho work by Rood Sunshlners.
The shutins were remembered first,
then the aged and children, afterward
tioinR were made ready for tho unfor
tunate nccdv ones.
A box of cheer was sent to make
Christmas happy among sunshin
members living in North Dakota among
whom Is Mrs. Sackett, formorly of Al
bion, Neb. In acknowledging the ar
rival l box she writes. "Contents will
scatter nunshine in a good many places.
There are plenty of people here now
who will appreciate It. ToyB have been
scattered In homes Santa forgot."
Another box was sent to Heartscso
branch, Mrs. Eggert president, for dis
tribution. One Christmas package was
sent to a family with three little ones,
that meant much joy. The state presi
dent left it at the door, remarking
"that Santa Claushad asked her to as
alsthlm." AtthU, one of the little
girls commenced to prattle o her, say
lnr "ahe wanted a nice doll, and dishes
that wouldn't break, Iron dishes." How
happy we wore to know that a beauti
ful doll was tucked in that pack. The
mother then said that money was
xcarco, owing to husband's illness, and
that she was very grwtoful for the
good cheer. A box for a family that
has but little in this world's good was
made ready and how wo bless the dear
Sunshiner that sent cundy, note and
dried apples In her Chrlstmos contribu
tion; for in that family of five children
it meant extras for Christmas dinner.
Clothing, magazines and toys wero elfo
added. Ih aotflrtowlodglng Its arrival
"it was counted as the best Christmas
present that wan over rccoivod."
Another box for a family was rsrtdo
ready and because tho little ones could
not attend the Christmas trco, candles,
some tinsol trimmings, otc, were added,
for wo knew tho mother would know
just how to utilize them in making
Christmas a hnppy tlmo for her little
ones. Oao of tho boys in tho family

with tho toy printing outfit. Two
more boxcslwcro sent to families In tho

Thoy are Indcod gratoful to every one

is a world of effort, you know, and wo
must nover yield, when flo much de
pends upon us."
Mr. and Mrs. Thompson donated a
beautiful cedar tree. AhIiIo from tho
decorations tho teachers had, Omaha
Sunshlners had sent yards of tinsel,
candles, etc., nnd It was used. Mr,
Ensign had charge of tho musical part
of tho entertainment. MrH. Thompson,
