March 5, 1902- The board started today on a tour of inspection of roads and bridges, lirat visiting the bridge oyer the North river north of North Platte, thence along the roads to the mouth of the Birdwood, inspect iug the bridge over th: stream, then to the bridge over the North river north of Sutherland, all ot which we found in fairly good condition both roads and bridge?, the bridges needing repairs only for wear and tear. March 6, 1902 The board left Sutherland this morning inspecting the bridges over the South river, beginning with the bridge at Sutherland and ending with the one south of North Platte. The bridge at Sutherland being in excellent condition, the one at llershey needidg some new piling and the one south of North Platte needing considerable new planking. The roads visited were in very fiue condition. March 7, 1902. The board convened in regular session at the court house. Kepository bond of McDonald State Bank is hereby approved. Official bond of j. S. Thrasher as assessor lor Deer Creek precinct to fill vacancy approved. Lease lor northeast quarter section 8-9-34, southeast quarter 2-9-.M, northeast quarter section 26-9-34 and northwest quarter section 20-9-34 to P. L. Harper for one year approved. Claim ot G. W. Dick Sliinkle and crew arc baling hay on the old Wetzel farm for See- berger & Co. A number of farm tenants have changed places of abode in this locality during the past two weeks. A. 13. Goodwin and D. M. Ley- poldt were at the county seat on business the latter part of last week. While the county commibsioners were inspecting bridges in tbis vicinity last week, they ordered a carload of lumber ot W. II. Hill, manager of the llershey lumber yard with which to construct new bridges and repair old ones. Kd Loveland, of North Platte, purchased a horse ot Leonard Laubner and also one of J, M. C. Wood one day last week. The revival meetings at llershey are still in progress with a good attendance and active interest. J. C. Gyger, manager of the Nichols creamery, was at the county scat with a fresh supply of butter for several of the merchants of that city on Saturday. At eight o'clock the bridal party entered the parlor where Rev. C. P. W. Wimberly pronounced the mystic words which united the lives of two popular young people. The bride was handsomely dressed in gray and white and carried pink llowcrp, while the groom wore the conventional black. Tho bride was attended by her friend Miss Cora Sturges, of North Platte, who wore a handsome pink costume, and Geo. Allen, brother of the bride, officiated as best man, After the ceremony the guests repaired to the dining rncm and en joyed a very dainty wedding sup per. The happy couple received many useful and valuable presents ub a testimonial of the high esteem in winch they are held by their num erous friends. Mrs. Saxton has lived iu Suther land nearly all her life, having at tended school in Nortli Platte and adjoining districts and by her lov able disposition has won a large circle of friends, Mr. Saxton is a prosperous young farmer of Greeley, Col. Mr. and Mrs. Saxton left for their home near Greeley the following altcrnoou with the best wishes of their many friends. XX. A carload of potatoes was re ceived at Ogalalla last week and thereby the famine was relieved and the people are again eating three "squares" each day. Ogalalla is hating a siege ot chicken-pox, small-pox or some similar disease, but as it is of an extremely mild form those afllictcd Buffer little inconvenience. A Yates Center, Kansas, paper says that a man and a woman put up at a local hotel. When asked to register, the man wrote W. 10. R. Notman and wife, Norlrom, Mo." And the paper says the hotel pro prietor did not catch onto the truth until the couple had paid their bill and gone. Work has begun on the new Union Pacific coal Hhutcs at Lex ington, which when completed will cost in the neighborhood of twenty thousand dollars. A gasoline en gine will furnish the for power elevating the coal into the chutes. During the month ot March the three rural delivery routes out of Gothenburg collected and delivered nearly fourteen thousand pieces of mail.
