Tax Commissioner Scribner and
Attorney Dundy ot the legal de
partment ot the Union Pacific have
been in town for a few days get
ting affidavits from parties as to
the value per acre of U. P. lands in
this county. These aflidayits will
be presented to the referees, Beeler
Mulrinnn. who are to make a
findini' in the tax case ot the
cotintv against the company.
BETWEEN THE RIVERS.
One of the finest fields of corn in
the valley is the one owned bv D.
S. McConuell, containing 100 acres
which will at least yield an average
of sixty-five to seventy bushels.
The new buildings on the J. H.
Hersliey ranch are all completed
and ready for use.
Farmers in this prosperous coun
try are preparing for the coming
winter by erecting new residences,
corrals, sheds and getting their
coarse feed near the places where
they will teed their stock,

Lewis Retior of Hershey and
Miss Eloise Liles of Nichols were
united in marriage at Sutherland
last Sunday. The bride is a
bright, promising and sociable
young lady with many friends.
The groom is one of the most in
telligent young farmers in the val
ley. Congratulations.
J. D. Mevers and familv. who
have resided in the valley for sev
eral years, will depart by team the
first of the coming week for Okla
tioma to make their future home.
