in town only a few days, but Miss

will give two exhibitions in this
city on next Monday, July 1st. It
is really unnecessary to say more
concerning these popular amuse
ment manufacturers. Their shows
are so universally admired that the
simple announcement that they
are soon to appear here is amply
sufficient to test the capacity ot
their mammoth tents.

get out. The average life of a
grasshopper is forty-five days, and
each insect will devour vegetation
equal to its weight. From this it
can be seen that the grasshopper is
very destructive to vegetation,
At the close of the address many
questions were asked the Professor

The ravages of the grasshoppers
resulted in a loss of thousands of
dollars to the farmers of Lincoln
county last year, and the same will
probably be true this year. As
there is no telling how many years
the insects may remain, it is evident
that concerted action looking to
their destruction must be taken by
the farmers. The more destroyed
