There will be roller skating at
the opera house this evening. Try

Mrs. M. H. Tobin returned
Wednesday night from Denver,
where she had been visiting her
sons Leo and Louis for a couple of
weeks.
C. F. Tracy moved this week
into his new residence in the west
end, and today E. S. Davis is mov
ing into the house vacated by
Tracy.
Mrs. R. II. Finney of North
Platte expects to begin a music
class at this place next Friday,
having secured nine or ten pupils

will be zealously guarded in the
legislature by J. E. Evans. His
record tor the past thirty years in
Nebraska warrants this. The Era
lies when it says Mr. Evans has
promised any man his vote tor U,
S. Senator. The Era presumes on
the ignorance of the voter when it
thinks the people of this district
will doubt the word of Mr. Evans
whomtthcy have known as a truthful
and honorable citizen.

that there is no cold weather in
sight at present, and it is quite

dissolved today by mutual couseut,
Mr. Stack retiring. Mr. Newton
will conduct the business in the
future and we understand Mr
Stack will again take employment
as an engineer on the road.

II. S. Ridgley returned yesterday
from a trip in the south part ot the
county, where he made speeches in
Somerset, Fox Creek and one or
two other precincts. He found
the republicans very enthusiastic
in that section of the county.
Weather forecast for North
Platte and vicinity: Fair tonight
and Saturday. Maximum tempera
ture yesterday was 58; one year
ago it was 39. Minimum tempera
ture this morning was 30; one year
ago it was 5 degrees above zero,
and was the coldest dav of the
month.
Three cars ot material for the
new ice house were received last
evening and work on the house will
begin at once. The capacity of
this new ice house will ba nearly
six thousand tons, being just two
thirds as large as the one erected
last fall. The total capacity of the
ice plant, when the new building is
completed will be twenty-five
thousand tons,
Will SimantB, who was married
iu Omaha Monday evening to Miss
Butler arrived home with his bride
Wednesday night, and yesterday
afternoon a reception was given
the couple at the home ot the
groom's parents east of town
About sixty persons sat down to a
sumptuous wedding dinner that
included all the good things which
the inner man would crayc. Fol
lowing the dinner a couple of hours
were pleasantly spent by the com
pany. Tnc young couple are
excellent young people and are
deserving of success and happiness
and this we trust they will alwayb
have.
