Miss Hannah Keliher will enter

The relatives of 13. A. Cary left
Tuesday for the west, stopping
ofT at Paxton and Sidney to visit
relatives at those points. Mr.
Cary accompanied the party as far
as Sidney.
The severity of the typhoid fever
epidemic at Cheyenne is said to
show no signs ot abatement, the
number of cases continuing around
COO. In Denver five thousand cases
of fever arc reported.
II. S. Ridgley. spoke to a large
and enthusiastic meeting at Max
well Wednesday evening. . There
were more people at the meeting
than at any previous political
gathering for years. The rcpubli
cans in that section arc very
enthusiastic.

Wm. Siebold's crop ot Biigar beets
averaged twenty tons to the acre,
and he receives five dollars and
twenty-five cents a ton for them on
the cars at this station. You can
figure this out as a pretty good
paying crop, and the fanner has, a
chance to play even with the sugar
trust.

The estate of M. C. Keith yester
day paid the 1898 and 1899 taxes on
ands and personal property of the
estate the total taxes amounting
to about four thousand dollars.
Mr. and Mrs. Dennis Redmond of
Grand Island haye been visiting

The proposition of granting
bounty on the scalps of wild
animalB will be attached to the
election ballots at the coming
election. This to a proposition in
which cattle raisers are consider
ably interested, as the coyotes
destroy many calves in the spring
season. If a bounty lor their
scalps iB given it is an incentive
for hunters to kill off the animals,
Harrington & Tobin have pur
chased the bulk of the hay grown
this season on the lands of the
Keith estate. The purchase
amounts to about one thousand
tons and the transaction involves
over live thousand dollars. This
is said to be the heaviest hay
transaction which has ever occurred
in Lincoln county.
