Sheriff Kclihcr4s in receipt of a communication from Governor Poyntcr in which he says that it is the duty of the BhcriiT, as well at constables and justices of the peace, to bring action against parties who violate the game law ol the state, and that it is expected that these officers thall do their duty in this particular. Violatom of the game law may therefore expect a strict enforce ment of the law. Hay Shipments. The shipments of hay trom Lin coln county have largely decreased during the past week, due to the fact that about all the lowland hay has been marketed and it is yet a little early for cutting the grass in the uplands. The hay shipped to date repre sents abont twenty per cent of the crcp, and has been of the second class variety, being inferior to that grown on the uplands. The Denver hay market haB been weak this week, due to heavy shipments from Kansas and Colorado. Teachers' Institute. The Lincoln county Teachers' ustitutc will begin August Cth and continue six days. The instructors are Prof. C. A. Fulmer, of Pawnee City, and Miss Lewis, of Omaha. Dr. 55. X. Snyder, president of the Colorado state normal school, and Prof. Fulmer will deliycr lectures. Special attention will be given to primary work, and two periods per day will be devoted to arithmetic. County Supt. A bpecial rate of fifty cents will be made for all those who attend but who do not take examinations. In the circular issued by the county superintendent the follow- ng paragraph is directed to the members of school boards: "Allow me to draw your attention to the fact that last year over seventy teachers were enrolled in the six weeks' summer school held in this county, while this year over eighty teachers and prospective teachers are spending the summer in school. You know that many of them can ill afford to do this. The attend ance at the institute has also been excellent.. Please bear this in mind when you are ready to engage teachers and do not ask me to make the requirements less for non-resi dents. It is not my intention to endorse any certificates except in case of Bliortage. No endorsements will be granted to persons who are inexperienced nor to any teacher who has held one endorsed certifi cate in the county. While really superior teachers will not be barred, evidence of such superiority must be furnished. statistics of a larirc number of counties show that from thirty to fifty per cent of has llie teachers drop out of the work i North P atte where hin liml each year and their places must be , under the doctor's care supplied by beginners.
