now associated together in a new
enterprise a gigantic irrigation
canal which will Irrigate 75,000
acres of land in the Big Horn basin.
The water for the canal will be ob
tained from the Shoshone river.
Work on it will be commenced at
once. It it is successtui it will
add tremendously to Wyoming's
resources. Col. Cody has au abid
ing faith in the Big Horn basin and
thinks that it is the garden spot of
the universe.

Ed Barraclough commenced work

ing as a machinists' apprentice.
Three orange specials went
through yesternay. Up to date
forty-six of them have gone through
since the season opened.
It is estimated that the cost per
ton of putting up the Union Pacific
ice this year was two cents less per
ton than last year notwithstanding
the fact that the work has been at
tended by a'l sorts of vexatious
delays. If the work moves along
next year as rapidly as it is ex
pected that it will, the cost will
probably be again cut in two.
Chas. Bogue has returned from
Omaha where he was attending a
meeting of the grievance committee
of the. B. of R. T. The result of
the meeting was very satisfactory,
the officials acceding to all of the
most important requests which the
brotherhood made. The only
change which was of local interest
was the reinstatement of Milt
O'Hearnc who was discharged a
number of months ago,
John Ambler was in from Dorp
last night with several loads of hogs
which he marketed.
C. H. Kuhn's Maxwell's enter
prising merchant, was transacting
business in town last night.
Fred Marti is having his store
front treated to a fresh coat of paint
which enhances its appearance
very considerably.
Quite a number of schools in the
county closed last week and more
will close this week, comparatively
few of the schools having any
spring term.
The present indications are that
the acreage of small grain which
will be sown in Lincoln county this
year will be far in excess ot what
it has been for a number of years.
