With the present method of handling the engines a travel ing engine is an absolute necessity. Another 'shifting in engines has taken place. The 1500s which were in service on the Third dis trict have been sent back to the Fourth district. They will be succeeded on tin' third by 1700a and more of the standards will go back into service on the east end, A car of potatoes from Greely was stored in the machine shops yesterday to keep the contents from freezing. Several cars of other perishable lreight were run into the round house and two orange specials were tied up west of here on account of the cold weather. The following is the capacity of the Beveral Union Pacific ice houses: house No. 1, 1482 tons; house No. 2, 2426 tons; houte No. 3, 2833 tons; house No. 4. 4109 tons; house No. 5, east room, 2740 tons, middle room, 2800 tons: west room 2740 tons. The total capacity of all of them is 19,189 tons. About 2,000 tons mot e of ice are needed to entirely fill the houses. The ele vator has been placed in position and is being used on house No. 5. It works splendidly and stowes away ice so rapidly that it keeps a large force of men at work feed ing the carriers. No ice was cut at Pawnee yesterday but ship ments will be resumed today. George Stearns and Miss Eva Rex ford were married last evening at the home of the bride's foster parents, Mr. and Mrs. David Scott. Rev. C. C. Wilson performed the ceremony, which was witnessed by about thirty guests, relatives and friends of the contracting parties. At the close of the ceremony an elaborate wedding supper wbb served, sir. and Mrs. Stearns were the nclpicnts of a large num ber of presents. The bride has made her home with Mr. and Mrs. Scott for a num ber of years and has grown to wo manhood here. She is n young la dy of many charming qualities and is justly popular among her many friends.
