A Daring Robbory.
Early this morning the Wilcox
Department Store was broken into
bv burglars and several hundred
dollars worth of goods were stolen.
The burglars obtained entrance by
cutting out a pane in a window in
the northeast corner of the store.
The indications arc that that were
several pccplc concerned in the
affair and they evidently had some
knowledge of how the store is
arranged. Nearly every depart
ment was ransacked and the burg
larBobtained cutlery, guns, clothing
and blankets. They evidently took
more than they could' carry as a
number of articles of clothing and
several knives were picked up in
the north and cast alleys. The
deed must have been committed
some time during the early morn
ing as there was no frost on the
articles which were picked up in
the allev and there were footprints,
in the frost.
After leaving the store they must
have gone to the railroad yards and
it is supposed that they boarded a
train in the castend ot the yards as
a revolver which was identified as
one of those stolen was found by
Polieman Robinson buried m the
gravel beside the main track in the
east end, The officers were at once
notified of the theft and arc hard at
work on the case. Several things
indicate that the burglary was the
work of amateurs but they were
undoubtedly very nervy amateurs.
