of Lancaster county returned an
indictment ainst Eugene Moore,

embezzling a draft $450 drawn Dy
the Omaha Fire Insurance company
in favor of Mr. Moore, on January
1 8. 18, and received under color of
his office Mr. Moore was brought
to the sheriffs office in about two

ot S1.500, with Myron Wheeler as
ssecuritv. and was released from

custody.

Flat, "as the title suggests, is a

acters are concisely drawn, and
they embrace a bill collector, a the
atrical manager, a' servant,, a
father-in-law, a wife who is ambi
tious, dress-maker, a dramatic
author,' an unsuccessful actor and
other minor characters which tend
to liven up everything and every
body in general. Cook's comedians
will undoubtedly give a first class
presentation iu this city next Wed
nesday evening at the opera house.

An unknown man was killed by
the Missouri Pacinc train near
Walton, ten miles out from Lin
coln. The report jot tne engineer
of the train is that the man was.on
his hands and knees on the track
and made no effort to get off when
he heard the tram approaching. It
was impossible to stop the train in
time and the man was run over and
terribly mutilated.
Harry Woodwprth of Wakefield,
came near losing his life by being
drowned. He went to the home of
Dr. Rowse for some milk and on en-
tering the house he walked into
a
cistern which, had been left open
only for a moment. The doctor
jumped into the cistern and there

head in about four feet of water,
