You cannot afford to waste time in experiment

you get the genuine. Because he can make more
profit he may tell you he has something just as

Congressman Morrow of Califor
nia, made a good point in favor of
protection when he showed that the
native product of borax increased
from 560,000 pounds in 1883 to
10,800,000 pounds in 1887. A duty
was imposed on this commodity. for
the first time in 1883 and now the
Mills bill proposes to put borax on
the free list. It was the threat im
plied in this proposition that caused
the failure of the great firm of Wil
liam T. Coleman & Co. of San Fran
cisco a few days since. Those who
hold that a tanff necessarily in
creases the price of manufactures
in the United States will find little
to sustain their view in the fact
that borax fell in price from 25
cents per pound in 1883 to 6i cents
per pound in 1887. Ex.
How Men Die.
If we know all the methods of approach
adopted by an enemy we are the better enabled
to ward oft the danger and postpone the moment
when surrender becomes inevitable. In many
instances the inherent strength of the body suf
fices to enable it to oppose tne tendency toward
death. Many, however, have lost these forces to
such an extent that there is little or no help.
In other cases a little help to the weakened lungs
will make all. the difference between sudden
death and many years of useful life. Upon the
first symptoms of a cough, cold or any troubla
of the throat or lungs, give that old and well
known remedy Boschee's German Syrup, a care
ful trial. It wOl prove what thousands say of it
to be. the benefactor 01 any home."

told by tne political economists ior
years that without a heavy export
trade our agricultural interests
would be nearly ruined. While
Tini: carinsr to pose in the role of a
crop expert, I give as my opinion
that the rarmers or America would
make more money out of a wheat
croD of 300,000,000 bushels than
from one of 400,000,000. Consum
ers might be forced to pay a little
mnrfi for their flour, but this would
not amount to much as millers and
transporters would be obliged to
curtail their profits. This would
help to even up living expenses.
There would stiii be a considerable
exDort trade to countries where we
have little or no competition. If a
surplus then remained 1 think it
could be disposed of in Europe with
a fair margin of profit to all parties
concerned." Inter Ocean.

a "minor mobilization" experiment
near Metz. The railroad station-

took the tram for another station,
and .at 6:30 the next 2,800 prompt
ly appeared, dmed and went to the
next station, where they had coffee,
and; both parties returned to their
quarters the next niornme. The
attempt was highly successful.

You can drink more and smoke more in the even
