LAKESIDE
Mr. and Mrs. Jake Herman were
in town from south of here Monday
on business.
Mrs. Pryor of Alliance returned to
her home Monday after a visit with
her daughter, Mrs. O. E. Black, in
this city.
Vern Perrin was in town the first
of the week from his ranch, twenty
five miles south of Lakeside.
The Lakeside Ranch company
shipped six carloads of cattle to east
ern markets from here Monday night,
and several more carloads Tuesday.
Miss Corrinne Moore and Miss
Briggs of Antioch were in town Mon
day evening.
The social which was held at the
church Monday evening proved a suc
cess. A large crowd was in attend
ance. Several gallons of ice cream
were sold, besides cakes, pies, sand
wiches and coffee. An interesting fea
ture of the evening was a fortune tel
ler's booth. A short but interesting
program was rendered and a pleasant
social time enjoyed.
Mr. and Mrs. Tom Rattler were in
Lakeside Monday evening to attend
the social.
Dr. and Mrs. E. C. Cowles will leave
in a few days for Omaha. They made
many friends here during the time
they haye lived in Lakeside, who will
regret to see them leave.
Several cars of cattle were shipped
from here Monday night Those who
were shipping were Jake Herman, R.
A. Westover, Dave Briggs and George
Piatt.
Mr. and Mrs. Charles Taylor and
daughter were in town Monday eve
ning. Mrs. Frank De France and children
and Miss Johnson drove in to attend
the social Monday night.
The kids played the usual pranks
around town on Hallowe'en night, but
so far no serious damages have been
reported.
Miss Edna Orr visited her friends,
Velma and Thelma Simmons, the first
of the week.
Charles Burleigh returned from the
west Tuesday. "
Ed Tyler, living routheast of here,
was in town Tuesday.

Th!s community was saddened last
Wednesday night by the death of lit
tle Arthur Sheldon. He passed nway
at the Mitchell hospital at 10:30 p.
ni. Wednesday, following n two weeks
illnes.. The lelatives have the sym
pathy of the entire community in theii
bereavement.
Mr. and Mrs. Grovor Bain came
from east of Hemingford, where Mr.
Bain was working, Thursday to keep
hou e for Harry Grosse while Mr. ami
Mrs. R. O. Grose are away.
The entertainment and box suppet
which was held Friday night at the
school house in district No. 31 was well
attended. The entertainment showec
that Miss Murray knows how to han
dle the children.
Claude Hookham left Saturday
night for Lincoln, where he expects
to attend the Nebraska business col
lege. Last Friday night, after the box
supper fit the school house, a few of
the neighbors were invited to the
Hookham home for a farewell party
for Claude. It was a complete sur
prise and a most enjoyable time was
had by everyone.
Donald Dyer was very sick last
Saturday, but is better at this writing.
G. E. Dyer took a load of spuds to
Hemingford Saturday.
The dance at Byrl Dyer's last Sat
urday night was well attended and
all report a fine time.
Mrs. Ivor Meeker and son and
Charles Moravek spent Friday and
Saturday in Hemingford.
One of Vincent Murphy's children
is quite sick with tonsilitis this week.
Mrs. Joe Eomer attended the St
Agnes academy bazar last Thursday.
Mrs. Jay Hall visited at the Ivor
Meeker home Sunday.
Mr. and Mrs. George Flaherty spent
Sunday afternoon at the Joe Romer
home.
