An Ordinance calling a Special
Election of the regular voters of the
City of Alliance, Nebraska, and pro
viding for the submission thereat of
the question "Shall the City Manager
Plan of Government as provided in
Chapter 208, Laws of Nebraska, 1917,
be adopted?"
WHEREAS, Electors of the City of
Alliance, Nebraska, equal in number
to more than twenty per cent of
those who voted at the last regular
City Election in said city have filed a
petition with the City Clerk of said
city asking that the question of organ
izing the city under the plan of gov
ernment provided in Chapter 208,
Laws of Nebraska, 1917, be submitted
to the electors of such city.
Now, Therefore, Be it Ordained by
the Mayor and Council of the City of
Alliance, Nebraska:
Section 1. That a special election
of the regular voters of the City of
Alliance be, and the same is hereby
called for, and will be held on Tues
day, the 4th day of January, 1921, in
the respective wards of the said city,
between the hours of 9 a. m. and 7 p.
m. of said day.
Section 2. That the following places

Section 3. That at said election the

hereby submitted to the legal voters
of the city: "Shall the City Manager
Plan of Government as provided in
Chapter 20S. Laws of Nebraska, 1917,
be. adopted?"
Section -4. That the election "shall
be held by the following judges and
clerks, who are hereby appointed for
said purposes: For the First Ward,
Judges, S. J. Epler, J. A. Hunter and
E. Boyer, Clerks, Mrs. A. J. Cole and
J no. Beach. For the Second Ward,
Judges, T. D. Roberts, Chas. Jeffers
and Thos. Lawler; clerks, C F.
Wykoff and S. A. Miller. For the
Third Ward, Judges, Jno. Brennan, S.
C. Soules and Jno. O'Keefe; Clerks,
Mrs. G. E. Davis and Mrs. J. Bogan.
For the Fourth Ward, Judges, T. H.

Section 5. That the City Clerk
shall give notice of such election by
publishing the election notice for at
least thirty days before the date of
such election in The Alliance Herald,
a newspaper published in the city of
Alliance. Such notice shall be sub
stantially the following form:

Special Election Upon the Question
of the Adoption of the City Manager

"PUBLIC NOTICE IS HEREBY
GIVEN TO the legal voters of the
City of Alliance, in the County of Box
Butte, btate of Nebraska, that a soe-
eial election has been called by the
Mayor and City Council, and will be
held in said city on Tuesday ,the 4th
day of January, A. P., 1921.
"The question to be submitted to
the legal voters at said election is as
follows. 'Shall the Citv Manairer Plan
of Government, as provided in Chap
ter 208. Laws of Nebraska. 1917. be
adopted?'
"The polling places for said election
shall be: For the First Ward, Base
ment of Central School Building. 715

Ward, Council Chambers in the City

upon the question submitted at said
election."

death of Arnold Hoffman who died

vices at the funeral of Arnold Hoff
man at Marsland.
The Congregational and Methodist
held union services Sunday at the
Methodist church.

spent Sunday at the home of Mrs.

The ladies' aid of the Methodist

C. W. Lockwood left for Omaha
Sunday evening to attend .a meeting
of the Nebraska-Iowa association. He
will return by the middle of the week.
There was a special union meeting
of the Methodist and Congregational
churches at the Methodist church last
Sunday evening In observance of
Armistice Sunday. A special program
was rendered, consisting of congrega
tional singing of patriotic songs;
qunrtets, solos, trio ami two saxo
phone solos. Rev.-Mr. Cox delivered
the address of the evening. A good
repreentat!on of the soldier boys
showed their appreciation by their
presence. All seemed to enjoy the
meeting and it is the duty of the peo
pie to observe in an appropriate man
ner the day which means so much to

Rev. F. W., Williams was cal'e I to
Marsland to direct the funeral of
Arnold Hoffman, who died at his
home near Marsland on -Wednesday j
of last week. The funeral was held
from the Methodist church on S.tn-1
day, November 14. Mr. Hoffman was
well known in Hemingford, as he had
been employed for the most parf of
the fall and winter here. He was a
fine young man and the community
grieves to lose him. i
There will be a box social in the
Methodist church basement Saturday
evening. All are invited. Ladies
