On Sunday, October 31. at 9:30 a
m., MIsr Venella M. Hacker, daugh
ter of Mr. and Mrs. H. D. Hacker,
and Harry D. Bell of Chadron, Neb.,
were united In marriage at the home
of the bribe's parents, nt 823 Box
Butte avenue, of this city.
The marriage ceremony was per
formed by Rev. F. C. Basset t of
Grand Island, Neb., In the presence
of the family ' and a few Invited
friends.
Mrs. Bell is a most estimable
young lady who has for the past few
years resided in Chadron where she
became acquainted with the groom.
The groom is a very worthy young
man, who entered the service of his
country and in March, 1918, went to
France where In the Eighty-ninth
Division of Infantry he saw service
In battle line for one hundred and
ten dpya In tbe St. Mehiel front and
Argqnn.fl forest.
The bride was the recipient of a
large number of fine wedding pres.
ents from frlewis In this city and
Chadron.
The bridal pair returned on Mon
day afternoon to 234 Maple street,
Chadron, where they will be at home
to their friends after November 10.
Mr. Bell is yardmaster at Chadron
on the C. & N. W. Tallroad. Friends

Miss Maurino Bald entertained a
number of her young friends at a
Hallowe'en party Thursday evening,
October 28, at the home of her par
ents, Mr. and Mrs. F. A. Bald. The
following were present: Ruth Wil
son, Nellie Sturgeon, Vivian Dow,
Louise Cogswell, Alice Prettyman,
Lucile Dickenson, Hazel Young, Nell
Gavin, Ruth Schill, Vera Lowry, Mrs.
Harsh, Miss Johnson.
Little Bobby and Taul Hershman
gave a Halloween party Saturday
morning from ten o'clock till twelve.
The house was decorated in orange
and black and the little folks played
various games. Dinner was served
at noon. Those present were: Mary
Ruth Reddish, Robby Reddish,
Corwyn Churchill, Mary Loretta Cop
sey, Alice Genevieve Brittan, Dorothy
Churchill, Betty Sims, Fritzle Harris,
Mardell Marks, Hortense and Harriet
Gavin and Ruth Wallin.
The Christian Endeavor gave a
party at the Christian church Friday
night. About Blxty members were
present. The church was decorated
in Halloween decorations. Games

A surprise party was given on Mr.
and Mrs. E. Purington. Saturday
night at their home about five miles
northeast of town, the occasion being
their seventh wedding anniversary.
About thirty guests were present.

tle friends at a Hallowe'en par'y
Saturday afternoon, at 208 West
Third street. The rooms were pret
tily decorated with Jaci-o.tanterns,
etc., and the afternoon was pleasant
ly spent playing games. Refresh
ments were served.
Miss Jenning's class gave a Hallo
ween party at the Christian church
Saturday night. All the guests went
dressed in sheets and they played
various Halloween games. A dain'y
lunch was served and the young peo
ple departed for home.
