perfect a musical instrument which

; Charlotte Temple Jeffers was born
in Harrison county, Ohio, May 11
1833, and died September 29, 19t0
at the home of her brother, Joseph
Jeffers, In South Alliance, Neb.,
being aged eighty-seven years, four
months and eighteen days.
She was married to Ira Ward Oc
tober 9. 1851. Two dauf'tue-! v'
born to this union, one of whom sur
vives. She also has two brothers an
one sister living to mourn her loss.
Her husband, Ira Ward, enlisted in
Company 11 of the Twenty-first
Ohio regiment in 1861 and nevr re
turned from the war, dying In Ander
sonville prsion in 1864. Mrs. Wan

re-reatlon of his own voice. This
would have proved tittle as his voice
might easily have overbalanced the
tone of the instrument swallowed it
up so to speak: but Mr. Ellison
did more or, to be accurate, less.
He paused from time to time, ap
parently at random and permittet
his re-created voice to be heard
alone. This gave an opportunity to
J compare one with the other and It
is no more than Just to state that
there was no discernable difference
in tone quality.
There must have been a slight
difference In volume when Mr. El
lison stopped singing but it was not
nottceable tor the voice which cam
from the cabinet was round, lucious,
with all of the vibrant, pulsating
quality of that which came directly
from Mr, Ellison's throat. It was
only by watching the singer's lips
that one could be sure when he sang
and when he did not.
Miss Alta Hill offered similar com
parisons with her instrument playing
in direct comparison with the re
creation of her own performance..
