Hlxhland Holloway Oo, FOUR CHOICES OUTLINED IN PRESENT BONUS PLAN The American Legion has formu lated its plan for the soldier bonus and everything that goes with It, and has politely suggested to congress that the plan be put into law in the next sixty days. The plan adopted by the Legion Is in every respect the program out lined last fall as "The Stars and Stripes plan," and incorporated in house resolution 360 by Representa tive Williams, of Illinois, introduced In congress October 24, last It is a plan for selective compensation. Under this plan, every former soldier, sailor or malne may select for himself what sort of benefits or additional compensation he will re ceive from the United States, for the financial losses he sustained by going to 'war. He may choose one of these four things, and one only: 1. A farm, to be bought on easy payments under the Lane-Mondell act, as amended. 2. A loan with which to buy a home in a city or town. The plan by which these loans shall be made must be determined by a commls e ton to be named by congress, and the loans will not be available for some months. 8. Vocational training at govern ment expense. While he is at a school, learning a skilled trade, he will be paid by the government as disabled men are now paid nnder the vocational training act 4. Additional compensation In United States government bonds at the rate of f 10 for every month he was in the service, ... FOR GOVERNOR ON THE DEMOCRATIC TICKET W. JLTaylor Twenty years of activity in Ne braska politics with an unexcelled record for championing agricultural and labor interests makes me the target for criticism of Influences which disparage whoever they can not control. None of these are re sponsible for my candidacy. It la my own doings, with the hopes that there Is a demand for a governor free from obligations to such. I am opposed to centralized power, ignor ing constitutions and waste of publlo moneys. I am mindful of the work and difficulties ahead. Fitting laws to probable constitutional changes,, amending or repealing the re-dis-trlctlng school law, unscrambling the mess of McKelvie's Code bill, check ing up and straightening out the ex penditures and inequalities of our big program, resisting and reducing our mounting taxes and passing and executing laws in restraint of Intol erable profiteering. Of all, the big gest is that of the contention be tween capital and labor. Its solv ing must be gradual and will come when labor la assured of a square deal from a government wherein she has proportionate voice. The ele ments with which I have In the past contended are found in both of the old parties, and likewise my friends,, whom I have no hesitancy In asking to vota for me upon the democratic -ballot la the primary election to be held April iOth, 1120.
