Later the happy younft couple lift
on the Denver train for a honeymoon
trip to that city, after which they

Mr. MarDonald. Is employed by tho
C, B. & Q. railroad. , The former
Miss Bowman has been one of our
most popular Alliance girls, and
while her presence and activities will
be much missed In her circle of
friends, sho Is followed by a shower
of good wishes for her happiness in
her new life and new home !n Burlington.
Johnson , of Lusk, Vo. . Mr. Berry
is now electrical engineer In charge
of the lip.ht plant at Lusk. Mrs.
Berry was formerly head clerk at a
depot store at Lusk. They will re
turn to their home In that city on
Wednesday. Alliance friends Join In
wishing them long lives full of happiness.

The Baptist church was flUed to

I hen the Pageant of Democracy was
I given by the young p -ople of the
church. The theme was tin uniting
of democracy and Christianity - to
bring the worrd to hope and light.
The proprrtn w.is nost Impressive
and the roles of Democracy and
Christianity, portrayed iTy Misses
Kuth Cone and Grace Spacht respect
ively, were especially well rendered.
Miss Marie Howe gave exceptionally
good interpretations of "America."
Another feature was the processional
"Peace Wo Bring," which was sung
by ten little girls.
The costumes of the different
countries were very Interesting and
added much to the enjoyment of tht
program, as did the sweet song of
the little white "Messengers of
Hope" and the music of the four
piece orchestra.

Victor H. Rathfack of Thedford,
Neb., and Miss A. Kuth King, of
"Whitman were married last Satur
day at the office of Judge Tasb.
8URTUISH rAUTY
About twenty-one ladies, members
of the East Side Progressive club,
took well filled baskets and went to
the home of Mrs. E. Becker on Miss
issippi avenue, to carry out a well
planned surprise on her. Tho after
noon was spen in conversation and a
well prepared feast was spread by
the guests. Mrs. Becker was the re
cipient of a number of pieces of
beautiful diver as a token of the es
teem in which she Is held by her
friends. In the evening tho ladies
nd husbands came back and tripped
the light fantabtlc.
The family leave Sunday for Cal
ifornia, where they will make their
home. They will visit Mrs. Becker's
parents, George Fox and wife, at Ft.
Morgan, en route.

Ralph V. Cox and little Hortense
Garvin, daughter of Chief Dispatcher
Garvin, accompanied by her mother
and slater, left here- for Council
Bluffs on Saturday to attend a "Heal
ing Mission," conducted by James
Moore lllckson, and under the aus
pices of the Episcopal church. Mr.
Hlckson is an Englishman who has
become noted for some very marvel
ous cures, not In the sense of mir
acles, but by gradual healing in an
swer to prayer and as evidence of
Christian faith.

Mrs. L. C. Smith entertained
twelve ladies at a kensington Satur
day afternoon In honor of her aunt,
Mrs. Mlna Logueay, of Denver.

the church, James T. Nichols, who
was actually In the peace conference
in Paris, will deliver a lecture on the
