Among the great number of propos als offered In the convention are two of far-reaching Importance. One by Kpperaon of Clay would abolish the state railway commission, and another by Rlgelow of Douglas would leave the laws and government of cities and villages In the hands of residents of the municipalities, when not In con flict with the constitution and general state laws. Several of the thirteen members on the committee on legislation are known to favor a one-house legislature. Even If a majority should favor two houses, a minority report probably will urge but one house of perhaps fifty or sixty members. Tlio convention, by a vote of 52 to 27, decided to continue la session re Cardies of the fact that coal conser vation Is causing a chilly atmosphere In the Btate house. Four Douglas county delegates are backiiiR an amendment to the constitu tion which provides a poll tax of $10 on each person who Is a citizen and docs not vott. Two proposals of an entirely discon nected nature relating to the labor Hicstlon are now before the convention. Out! by A. It. Oleson of Lincoln, would in nke It unlawful to strike or advise a Btrlke in Nebraska. Cast them on an island where the voice of the world was lost. Tumbled them, lord and butler, lady and scullery maid, into a common mass of males and females. Laughed at their former glories, their former handicaps. Pointed to an untamed jungle, ruled only by wild beasts, and said: "Now we shall see who rules." Then the butler, because he was a man, became a king; and the jmat lady who once disdained him, served, loved him fought with a slavey for his kiss! One day a ship! Rescue! Home!
