William Tatro, better known in Alliance police circles by his alias of Richard Smith, was escorted to the penitentiary by Deputy Sheriff Laing within a short time after sentence was pronounced upon him last week, ' and is now regularly catalogued and numbered with the regular inmateB of the state bastile. After sentence was passed upon him, Mr. Tatro grew rather talkative, and told the officers a good many interesting tales, some of which, at least, have turned out as they we-e recited. On the trip, he told Mr. Laing to tell Taylor that he had more grit than any man he ever saw and he had been in the game for twenty-five years. He tells a tale of a pal who staged a robbery whic he was wait ing for Rlordan, saying that the pal left town on No. 42. He himself, he said, was on the train once, but turned back for some unaccountable reason. He likewise confessed to the robbery of the Reddish hom the same evening, and told the offlrers where be had secreted a can of red pepper in his cell.
