Large quantities of soft coal are

winter. The danger of spontanea is
combust ion In this causes a serious
file hazard, end unusual care should
be exercised by the owners of such
properties The hazard enn b ro-
duci l hy proper selection of the
grails and sizes of soft coal, and the
exercise of proper precautions In Its
handling and storage.
Where large quantities of soft coal
are stored In the open It should be in
separate piles, so that a fire starting
will not spread through the entire
supply, and the affected pl ran be
extinguished or moved Where th.
coal Is stored In basements the Fuel
Administration suggests the follow
ing precautions:
1. Coal the size of n walnut or larg
er Is well adapted for storing.

account of fine coal and dust, are

2. Never place coal nenr a hot pipe,
against a hot furnace or any
other hot surfer.'

Department of Publicity has sent oat
more than 3,000 copies of "Nebraska
Facts" to residents of eastern states
who are turning their eyes towards
the new and prospering west. And
the director of the department has
answered more than 1,500 letters
from recipients of the booklet who
wanted to know snrrtethtng more s
bout school and church facilities In
Nebraska cities named in their let
ters. During the year the department
has sent out more than 2,500 bullet
ins on the potash Industry of Nebras
ka, many of them to Oreat Britain,
Hawalan Inlands, and the provinces
of Canada.
