As only 32.573 tons was produced in 1917 the production is evidently in creasing rapidly. The domestic pro duction now equals 20 to 25 of the normal domestic consumption be fore the war, which is estimated to have been about 240,000 tons. The statistics for the first half of the year are not complete, for returns have not been received from a fewvlarge producers, and It is possible that the production In 1918 may exceed 60. 000 tons, for reports made to the ser vey indicate thnt a number of new enterprises may be put lpto operation during the second half of the year. ioi Ed Reardon, who left Alliance many months ago with the boys of company G, in visiting relatives and friende in the city.
