Mr. Black is enpaged In this busi

slightly farther than the distance be

AN APPEAL I lt HPIUNfi WHEAT
George Coupland, vice-chairman of
the Nebr: ska State Counell of De
fen' e, has issued a statement saying
thai Die survey made by the council
its to the winter wheat acreage in
Nebraska this fall Indicates about 76
to R0 per cent of the normal planting.
In order that the state may get back
to Its usual wheat production, the
farmers of the state are called upon
by the government to make up the
deficiency by the aowlng of spring
wheat next year. Fortunately, the
fact that so much extra land waa
planted to corn this year will make
It easy for farmers to use their corn
stalk flelda for this purpoae. The
State Council urges very strongly thai
the necessary seed supplies o do this
be obtained as Boon as possible. In
localities where good spring wheat la
being held, arrangements should be
made at once by those who need It so
that no good seed wheat will be
shipped away for milling purposes
until the local needs are provided for.
The state Council of Defenae aske
the loyal co-operation of the farmers,
elevators and mills of Nebraska to
help secure the seeding of the neces
sary acreage of spring wheat next
year to make up the deficiency caused
by the shortage of winter wheat
sown this fall. The needa of the
nation urgently demand that this be
done.
Farmers needing spring wheat and
those who have it for sale, should
they need assistance, will be helped
by the State Council of Defense to
the utmost of its ability.
Now is the time to get ready to
seed next year's spring wheat crop.
