Standard Bearer
Society Organized.
A Standard Bearers society was
organized Saturday afternoon at a
meeting of girls held at the home of
Mrs. A. P. Brown. The meeting
was conducted by Mrs. Mary E. Par
ker, Mrs. A. P. Brown, Mrs. J. B.
Cams and Mrs. J. H. Standard. Mrs.
Standard was elected superintendent
of the society. Officers were elected
at this meeting. The society is a
girls' auxiliary to the M. E. Woman's
Foreign Missionary society. The
next meeting will be held at 7:30
o'clock on the evening of Saturday.
May 26, at the home of Miss Qoldie
Leith, 602 Laramie avenue. Mem
bers of the society announce that
they will be pleased to have any
girls present at their next meeting
or any of their meetings, who may be
interested In this work. The Stand
ard Bearer flag is the only flag ever
floated above the Stars and Stripes.
This is done in the navy during wor
ship. Kenneth Naylor Married
at Grand Island.
Kenneth Charles Naylor, son of
Representative and Mrs. Charles
Naylor of Chadron, was married on
April 28 to Miss Ethel Iona Hyser,
daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Frank
Benton Hyser, at the home of th
bride's parents, in Grand Island. The
bride is an accomplished Grand I
land young lady whose many friends
will regret to see her leave that city
but who wish her happiness in her
new home in the west. The bride
groom is a western Nebraska boy,
who parents, Mr. and Mrs. Naylor.
have a wide acquaintance in west
ern Nebraska. The young couple
will be aChonie after July 1 at San
Diego, Calif.
Central School Ha
May Festival.
The May festival presented by the
pupils of Central school was witness
ed by a large and appreciative audi
ence Friday afternoon. On account
of the weather the program was giv
en in the Phelan opera house In
stead of on the school lawn as had
been planned. The following pro
gram was presented:
Folk dancing, girls Primary grades.
Japanese drill, girls Intermediate
grades.
May-pole drill, girls (!rnnimar

Flag drill, girls and boys Primary
grades.
Soldier drill, hoys Intermediate

A human flag, girls of all grades,

Are Announced.
Announcements have been receiv
ed by Alliance people telling of the
marriage of Marie Dlsmer Dudley to
Bryan D. Wilson, at Belle Fourche,
S. D , April 18. The bride Is a
daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Dls
mer. former Alliance residents.

members of the H. F. Whist Club at
a luncheon and card party. The af
fair was In compliment to Mrs. C. A.
Curry, who Is a guest In the city.

Miss Lotus Millard and Mr. Justin
K. Dunbar, both of Antloch, were
married Thursday evening In the
parlors of the Alliance hotel. The
ceremony was performed by H. J.
Young, pastor of the Christian
church of this city.
Ladies' Circle Mot with
Mrs. H. C. Renenhaugh.
The Ladies' Circle of the Christian
church met with Mrs. H. C. Redin
baugh Tuesday afternoon. The cir
cle met a day earlier this week be

Monday Evening, May ill.
On Monday evening, May 21, a
benefit dance for the Alliance chap
ter of the National Red Cross Asso
ciation and for Company O will be
held at the Phelan opera house. Tic
kets are one dollar. The benefit
dance is being held under the direc
tion of a committee headed by A. G.
Isaacson and Dr. George J. Hand.
They are planning an evening full of
unique and pleasant surprises, such
that will make the evening one long
lo be remembered. Those in attend
ance will be presented with gifts In
remembrance of tho occasion. Say
ing nothing of the cause for which
the funds received will be used, the
money expended promises to be moil
ed spetil ful ValU- received. A large
attendance is anticipated.
Millard-Dunbar Wedding
Annual Junior-Senior
lUnuuet Held Friday.
Friday evening the annual ban
quet tendered by the Junior class of
the Alliance high school to the Sen
ior class was held in the gymnasium
of the high school. The class colors
of the Seniors were used prominent
ly In the decorations. The usual
toast list was given and the banquet
was a great success from every view
point. The banquet was held some
what earlier than usual this year,
owing to the fact that two of the
ioys of the Senior class and six of
the boys of the Junior class have en-
i listed in Company G, and It Is not
i known what minute they may be
called out to serve their country.
Hendrlx-Pickering Nuptials
Solemnized Thursday.
On Thursday Miss Lulu Hendrlx of
Oshkosh and Mr. Harry A. Pickering
of Warren were united In marriage
at the M. E. parsonage by Dr. J. B.
Cams, pastor of the M. E. church of
Alliance. The happy couple will
make their home near Warren on a
ranch owned by Mr. Pickering.
May Day Festival
Held at Baptist Churrli.
The parlors of the Baptist church
were the scene of a May Day festival
on the evening of May 2. Contrary
to the general order of May Day
baskets, the baskets were filled with

PreM-nted Drama
"Eleanore's Sacrifice," was pre
sented by the atudenta of St. Agnes
Academy at the Phelau Opera house
Thursday evening to an audience that
tilled the place. The drama wnv
raoedrod in a manner that gave evi
dence that the actors had been glvei
thorough preliminary trianlng. Tin
nature of the piece made it somewhat
hard to produce ns it is what might
be called "heavy."

The Senior class of the Alliance

this year is entitled, "The Commut
ers." It ia a comedy in four acts.
The play will be presented at the Im
perial theater in connection with thai
theatre's regular program. The cast
has been busy engaged in rehearaels
for some time past and those who are
familiar with the play and the actors
are of the opinion that it will be with
out question, one of the best home
talent plays presented in Alliance ni
a long, long time. The caat is large
