that her father, who lived at Beloit,
Wis., died Friday. The father was
almost ninety years old. Mrs. Cur
ry was not able to go to the funeral
on account of illness.
R. E. Smith of Scottsbluff was in
the city the last of the week. He
came here to meet Mrs. Smith who
was on her way home from a visit at
Norfolk. Mr. Smith is a "lino" at
the Star-Herald office.
Jerry Rowan has been enjoying a
visit this week from E. O. Morris of
Pasadena. Calif. It haa been some
thirteen years since Mr. Morris has
been here. He goes to Ardmore from
hare.
W. E. Cavin has been here from
Crawford the past week. He was
called here by the illness of his moth
er, who suffered a stroke of paraly
sis recently.
F. W. Hicks, secretary of the lo
cal civil service board, announces
that as yet there are no applicants
for the examination for elevator con
ductor at North Platte. This exam
ination was postponed from Febru
ary 17 to March 10, and Is now post
poned again to April 14.

Mrs. O. S. Cadman Is home from a
visit with friends in Lincoln and the

Services of the Christian Science
society will be held each Sunday in
Alliance in the old Masonic hall in
the Adler block. Sunday school Is
at 10 a. in., to which all up to the
age of twenty years are admitted
The regular morning lesson sermon
is at 11 o'clock a. m. On Wednes
day evening at 7:30 o'clock is held a
service at which experiences, testi
monies and remarks on Christian
Science are given. All are welcome
to the services.
The Central School have purchased
a Vlctrola from the Wiker Music
House for use in the grades, while
the Emerson school has secured a
