' Hayes E. Chandler, a colored
farmer, who has been on a place
owned by L. F. Leavitt and who was
charged with the stealing of a quan
tity of grain from a car on G Irani
siding, said grain alelged to belong
to l'uvitt, had his hearing in county
court this afternoon. He was ac
quitted bees use of lack of enough di
rect evidence to convict. The alleg
ed theft is said to have occurred In
August, Chandler having sold some
grain to a grain buyer at about that
time.

that several cases of hog cholera
have been reported to him. as a re
sult of hogs being shipped in from '
Infected districts. C olera has been
reported on the farms of Neils Pet
erson. D. E. Watson, John Mabin.
Mike Collins, Fred Bergfleld. O.
Bowser and Ira Roland. The most
of the herds on these places have
been varicnated since being Infected.
It Is up to the people of the County
to exercise care that this disease is
stamped out and not allowed to
spread. Hogs from other areas
should be quarantined for two weeks
and dipped before beinR put with the
native hogs. The first indication of
hog cholera Is getting off feed, high .
