Republicans nominate Barnes for sheriff, Mounts for assessor and Basye (or attorney. Thomas and Harper for representative. Sutton on Republican side. In Box for treasurer, Dillon for assessor and clerk, Irish for treasurer, Keegan for Tuesday's election was the most hotly contested over the state since the primaries were adopted as the method of bringing out can didates for state office. At this time, Thursday afternoon, many offic es arc still in doubt and it will probably take the official counts in many counties to settle the matter. . The unofficial count of Box Butte county is given below. The official count will be held Friday. Some additional mail ballots are expected but they arc not expected to change any of the general results. A special dispatch to The Herald Thursday afternoon gives the following count: For Governor: Republican Democratic For Senator: Republican Democratic Sutton Miles MeKelvie Neville Bryan Kennedy Aldrich Hitchcock Dunn 16,000 14,000 11,000 23,000 14,000 18,797 12,997 21,948 11,000 For National Committeeman: Democratic Mullen Dahlman Republican Howell . McGrew For State Railway Commissioner: Democratic Ridgell Wilson 13,658 ..... 12,720 15,400 .... 10,370 2,581 2,798 in this end of the district, and he may carry enough in the cast end to pull through. Frank J. Taylor will undoubtedly be the other dele gate fro mthis district. Joe W. Lccdom of Gordon, Republican candidate for commission er of public lands and buildings, is making a strong showing, and while he will probably lose out in the east end of the state to Fred Beckmann, Lcedom has placed his name before the people in a way The vote on state senator from tire 28th district is still in doubt j lhat gnows he is rcc0gnzcd and lhat may piacc him in line again although Porter of Crawford appears to have the lead. Griswold of Gordon is a close contestant. Late returns on state representative from the 73rd district, com prised of Sheridan and Box Butte counties, show Lloyd Thomas in the lead on the Democratic ticket by 186 votes, and W. R. Harper on the Republican ticket by 40 votes. This poll includes all of Box Butte county and the. north end of Sheridan county, including Rushville, Hay Springs and Gordon. Charles II. Tully of Alliance may be the Democratic national con vention delegate from the Sixth district. His vote in Box1 Butte coun ty was 359. Incomplete returns show him to have a strong majority In Box Butte county on the Democratic ticket John J. Manion was nominated for county clerk, Fred Mollring for treasurer, Cal Cox for sheriff, Opal RuSscll for county superintendent, P. II. Dillon for county assessor, and Joe L. Westover for county attorney. On- the Republican ticket W. C. Mounts was nominated for county clerk, Frank W. Irish for treasurer, W. O. Barnes for sheriff, Mary Robert son for superintendent, J. A. Keegan for assessor and Lee aBsye for attorney. On the non-partisan ticket W. II. Westover and Edwin D. Crites were nominated for district judge, and Ira E. Tash and L. A.
