TEN YriARS ACIO From the Files of The Alliance Herald of June 29, 1905 Here are a few notes regarding" the Fourth of July celebration la 1905: The colored band was here from Crawford and played for the occasion; there was a hub-and-bub race between fire departments 1 and 2, in which the prize of 325 was woa by No. 1 by a very close margin; Hon. W. R. Akers made the addres of the day; as Alliance young me were too modeBt and as the young lad dies did not wish to appear rude the? did not push them, so there was no public marriage, for which a prize of 125 was offered. Prof. Baldwia made a balloon ascension very sue cessfully. Fully three thousand peo ple were at the fair grounds to wit ness the program, but the weather man stepped in and drenched every body. Later the sun came out, and the program was resumed. Craw ford won the ball game from Alli ance. Dr. E. E. Barr has decided to move to Hyannls where he will open a drug store and practice his profession. Geo. W. Clark returned last Thurt day from the South, having traveled extensively throughout Kansas, Ok laboma, and Indian Territory. To- gether with his brother, he has be come engaged in the lumber busi ness at Ramona, Indian Territory. and will arrange to meve there asr soon as he disposes of Interests here. Mrs. Charles Hartman, sister of Mrs. F. N. Young of this city, died at her home In Nevada, Mo., July 4. The body was brought here today by her son Chsrles, and interment will be made in Greenwood cemetery. Engineer John Francis Horner died at his home In this city last Sat urday evening at 9:30.
