A matched race was hold at the
race track Tuesday between horses
owned by Todd of Bridgeport and
Bench of Gordon. Todd's horse was
winner. The race covered three
eights of a mile.

Mr. and Mrs. E. S. Drake departed
While working In the new theatre
the latter part of last week, Mr. Cra
mer, one of the proprietors, sprained
one of the liglments in his right arm.
He does not know how the accident
happened, as he did not notice it's
being painful until the first of this
week. A doctor was consulted, and
advised careful treatment for sever
al days, and Mr. Cramer followed the

turned home Monday from Rochest

Charlie Nation, a barber, was ser
iously hurt Tuesday, wh"n he was
knocked to the sidewalk and the con
tact with the sidewalk proved a lit
tle too much for him. The attack
occurred In front of the Drake hotel.
Miss Kathleen Morgan arrived on
Tuesday from Chadron for a few
days visit with Mrs. Jerry Rowan. A
slumber party will be given in honor
of the visitor this evening at the
Rowan home.
MIhs Adah Hill, of Dalfon. Is vis
iting with Miss Dorothy Smith and
other friends here this week.

here this week from Minatare visit
ing with Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Rowan.
An evidence of the fact that the
buey season is Just commencing at
the San Francisco exposition is
shown by the great number of peo
ple that are passing through Alliance
from tbe East every day. There Is
hardly a train that does not carry
from twelve to fifty, and many of
them carry even more than that.
W. W. Buchanan, the horse buyer,
came in from Hyanlns Tuesday to at
tend the convention.

Word was received this week from
.Mrs. Ralph Worley, who left last
week for Downs, Kansas, to be at the
bedside of her mother, Mrs. vol
Wright, that Mrs. Wright passed
away Monday. Tbe cause of death
was smallpox which developed into
pneumonia. Burial was made at
Downs Wednesday of this week. The
sincerest sympathy of friends is ex
tended to the relatives in their sad
bereavement.
