IRRIGATION EXPERIMENTS
Work on First Well Will lie Started
Within a Few Week Proba
bly on Powell Farm
According to Senator Earl Mallery,
the experimental irrigation in t his
county will start In a very short
time. The necessary arrangements
have been made, and while it is not
yet an assured fact, it is Very prob-
able that the first well will be put
down on C. L. Towell's place, three'
files north of town. While It Is
known that there are surer places'
than this, especially In the Snake
creek valley, the Towell location is
more advantageous as it will "prove"
the territory in which it is located
and is in a territory where irrigation
is needed more.
Before it ts declared a success, the
well must furnish 200 gallons a min
ute for a considerable length of
time. In case the first well is a suc
cess, the second one will be put In a
place where Indications are less sure,
in order that it may all be tested. If
the well Is a success. It will be im
mediately transferred to the owner
ship of the farmer on whose place It
is put. If it Is not a success, it costs
the farmer nothing, and It Is not con
sidered that there Is a farmer In the
country, who, if a good well was
found on his place, would not will
ingly pay the costs.
C. A. Newberry will furnish the
machinery for the wells, so that but
little expense will have to be borne
by the county.

that cannot be shown by many Insti

ity of the product, together with the
excellent service, has caused this in
crease. An even greater-Increase la

Glenn Miller, Nelson Worley, Wm.
Rlgnell, Al Wlker and Enoch Boyer,
property owners along Box Butte
avenue, have made known their in
tention to bring suit against the city

I be Incurred by placing the Box Butte

that they will suffer by the deep cuts
