Ewts Big Quarter Higher. Union Stock Yards, South Omaha, March 2. A very fair run of cattle showed up yesterday, about 6.00t head. It was a very sluggish market in beef steers yesterday and price were fully 100150 lower than Friday. The demand seemed to be very fair. but as reports from all outside mar kets were decidedly bearish and sup plies were ample the buyers appeared to be In no hurry to fill their orders and sellers found It almost impossi ble to get early bids raised. Propor tions of cows and heifers was not very large and as there was vigorous competition from feeder buyers, in ad dition to the usual Inquiry from local packers and outside butchers, the market opened fairly brisk for any thing good enough to attract compe titfon and prices bid were steady to strong. The spurt did not last long. however, and later ail grades were hard to move at prices that were weak to a dime lower than Friday. There was a rigorous demand for stockers and feeders and the trsde was lively, with prices right around lOtMSc higher for good green stock. Cattle quotations: Good to choice beeves, 7.808.30; fair to good beeves, $7.0007.75; common to fair beeves, ,6.007.00; good to choice heifers, $6.257.00; good to choice cows, $5.806.60; fair to good cows. $5.0005.75; canners and cutters, $3.50 04.76: veal calves, $7X0010.00; bulls. Fresh tops for the year to date were made all along the line, there being both fed western and Mexican lambs good enough to sell up to $9.35, Mexican yearlings at $8.65 and fed western ewes at $7.25.
