They think you should agree with
them because you should be convers
ant with their superior ability to
pass righteous judgment on all mat
ters. Kveryone knows a few of these
self-appointed Solomons.
They are the moBt disagreeable
mortals one ever bus occasion to
deal with.
As a rule they are ignorant, bias
ed, narrow souls on whom it Is not
worth while to spend either time or
energy.
Every person lias among his ac
quaintances a sutllrlent number of
brnudmhuled, tolerant, well Inform
ed men and women, with whom he
ran spend his spare time and to
whom he ran go for inspiration and
fellowship, to let the narrow-self-centered
fellow go his way.
There Is no use trying to convince
people who have sealed their convic
tions and steeled their wills against
reason.
The only thing to do with such
people Is to let them have, and let
them go, their own way.
Tolerance is a virtue not sufficient
ly prized.
The only grounds upon which you
can claim consideration for your own
opinions is that you accord others
the same right in the matter of hold
ing opinions that you claim for your
self. A man may be tolerant and yet
firm. He may hold to his own ideas
