Mrs. Ed Strand and son Malone
went out to the Watson ranch Thurs
day to visit, and wil return Satur
day. Emma Doyle of Orlando,' has been
an Alliance visitor since Wednesday.
She expects to return to her borne
Saturday.
Mr. and Mrs. j. F. Elliott of Hem
ingford were in town today between
trains. Mr. Ellott came to Alliance
to hare his eyes treated.'
A petition for divorce was filed in
district court on Thursday by Edna
Olson, asking separation from Oscar
Olson on the charge of desertion.
.The Methodist Epwortb League
will give a party tonight at the
church. Everyone is cordially in
vited, and requested to each bring a
tin. cup and spoon.
. W. E. Lotapelch loaded the lum
ber at Alliance today for the house
to be built soon on his ranch near
Bingham. Bart Young, who has
barge 'of the carpenter work, will
KO down to the Lotspeich ranch with
in a few weeks, accompanied by two
or three other carpenters. It is ex
pected that the foundation and other
preliminary work will be completed
by that time, when the construction
of the house will be pushed ' right
along until completed.

Mrs. Roy Beckwitb returned this

Mr. and Mrs. Carl Joy and baby
came in yesterday from Jesse coun
ty for a few days' visit.
Mrs. Mabel Perkins of Deadwood,
South Dakota, came in Friday to vis
it her sister Mrs. Hazel Johnson for
some time.
Mrs. O. W. Emery, who has been
teaching ecbolo for six months near
Redington, has finished this term and
returned to her home in Alliance.
John Rodgers of Torrtngton, Wy
oming, a nephew of E.- E. Lawrence,
returned to his home today. He
has been visiting Mr. Lawrence for
three months.
Nels Worley expects to leave on
Monday for Tbermopolis, Wyoming,
to take treatment at the hot springs
there for muscular rheumatism from
which he has been suffering for
some time.
Mrs. B. W. Bearden and daughter
will leave tonight on 42 for Broken
Bow to attend the funeral of J. O.
Painter. The funeral services will
be held at 2 o'clock Sunday after
noon. Mrs. Bearden will return on
Monday.
Auctioneer Coursey informs The
Herald that the Mrs. Albro'a public
sale this week was one of the best
sales for ita sise that he ever cried.
The bidding was lively and prices
satisfactory. The sale, amounting
to $1,812, was completed in about
an hour and thirty-five minutes.
Among the people shopping in Al
liance today are Mr. Sherlock and
family. Mrs. Hill and family, Mr.
and Mrs. Fred Trenkle and family,
Mr. and Mrs. Will Albright, Mr. and
Mrs. Manion, Mrs. Stillle and daugh
ter, and Mrs. O. D. Hobbs and son.
The girls' basket ball team of the
High school went up to Chadron to
day to play the academy girls at
that place tonight.

wire chief, was called east this noon
by a telegram from Fort Dodge, Io
wa, stating that his father had died
Sunday night.
Bert Ashley, wife and daughter,
of Cheyenne, who hnv been guests
of Geo. O. Gadaby for two weeks, re
turned to tbiir home today. They
formerly lived here.
Chas. C. Jameson, of Ellsworth,
secretary of the Nebraska Stock

the two school buildings In which

carried in stock by piano houses,
making it necessary to send to the
factory for these two Instruments.
