Hiram Auolph Dew King, railroad
and police station reporter for The
Times, who ays that although he Is
Htunted in size, he makes up for M
in intelligence, was soundly berated
Monday while securing some impor
tant news of a family scrape from
the wife at the Uurlington station.
Hiram Adolph, scenting trouble with
unerring accuracy, and skilled with
many years of experience, trailed the
lady lno the ladies wahing room
in the Uurlington deot and begged
for an Interview. "It'e none of your
business, my little man," said the
lady. "This world would be a whole
lot better off without people Uke
you." Hiram secured the story, how
ever, and it formed the leading news
item of the highly educational sheet
which lie represented on Tuesday.

being heard before the local land
office this morning. The land In
question lies near Canton and Is con
sidered quite valuable. G. H. Clay
ton, B. C. Curtis and If. L. Whitak
er were witnesses for Mr. Brwon.
Adams Express Company has pur
chased a new horse for it delivery
wagon.
I Mrs. Jerry Rowan left for Denver
Saturday night for a visit with
I friends. On Sunday she received a
message stating that her sister at
I'itsadena, California. .wis seriously
ill. She left Denver that night for
Pasadena.
Miss Alice Washburn, of Denver,
daughter of Conductor Washburn, of
the South line, came to Alliance Sat
urday and visited until Tuesday with
Miss Edna Bowman and Mis Dorothy
Smith.
T. H. Barnes left Tuesday for a
visit with his son at Salem, Oregon.
His home was formerly Los Angeles.
