The Christian Endeavor society
will give a social at the Christian

day, the same team trying it both
times. The team was bitched to a
city delivery wagon and started the
first time when the fire companies
went to the fire about noon. The
second was about four o'clock. The
team made a grand rush up main
street, rounded a block and went eas
finally stopping. Brave attempts
were made both times to catch them
by venturesome persons.

Doyle made a trip to the city of Be
rea on Thursday, returning Friday.
They vlalted there with Miss Emma
Doyle, where she Is teaching school.
They became nearly lost on Broad
way and narrowly escaped being run
over by a street car, but got out of
the metropolis all right and arrived
home safely.
Through the efforts of Mrs. W.D.
Zedlker, a rare musical Irani Is In
store for Alliance people. Sidney
sillier, director of the piano depart
ment of the Unlerslty School of Mu
sic, Lincoln, will give s piano recital
at the Phelan opera house next
Monday evening, April 7th. This
will be one of the best musical en
tertainments of the year for AHIam
and one that no other city In the
state, outside of Lincoln, may have
this year.
This will be Prof. Sllber's only re
cital this year outside of Lincoln.
He has prepared a special program
for Alliance which will be highly
pleasing to every music lover who
attends. The Herald is informed
that this program will be especially
"tuneful". There Is a common be
lief that an entertainment given by
a professional musician is too "clas
sical" to be enjoyed by common
folk, but we are assured that this
entertainment will be one for Dm ti
Joyment of all, whether musclans or
not.
Mrs. Zedlker has secured this en
tertainment for Alliance people at
considerable expense and The Her
ald hopes that the patronage will
be liberal enough to Becure her a
gainst financial loss. Seats may be
