Lincoln, Sept. 9 At a meeting of
the veterinary Btate board the matter
of the new disease which Is proving
fatal to animals and especially horses
throughout the state was taken up
and discussed and It was finally de
cided to take up the matter with the
national bureau of animal industry,
and the following telegram was sent
to A. I). M'Jvin. chief of the bureau
of animal Industry, Washington:
"Cerebrospinal meningitis of horsi s
now spreading over MM half of Ne
braska. We Med assistance from
your department."
In addition to the telegram, the tot

Rejects Plan to Unite.

mous vote the Northwest Nebraska
conference of the Methodist Episcopal
church, in session here, rejected the
proposition of consolidating with other
conferences of the state. When the
