According to the school census of
Oerlng Just completed, the popula
tion of that town has increasde near
ly one-fifth during the last year. The
number of children of school ag in
creased from 235 to 276.
C. D. Green of Bayard la at the
head of a movement looking to the
organization of an association for fhe
extermination of mosquitoes in the
North Platte valley. it is elnimed
that It can be easily done by united
action In the use of kerosene and
crude oil in ponds of stagnant water
and irrigating canals.
An enterprising merchant of Min
at a re and Melbeta, two small towns
In the North Platte valley, inserts
a full page advertisement In the
county seat paper of Scotte Bluff
county. There are some merchants
In larger towns that think it does
not pay to advertise mm h in July
and August. They should try it
Once and find out that It does, and
has been proved by many of the most

The Northport Herald has been
changed from a six column., eight
page iwper, to a seven column, eight
paj?e publication. Although estab
lished only a few months nio, It has
crowding to the front as one of the
leading newspapers of the North
Platte valley. Hon. C. D. Casper,
well known in central Nebraska as,
a veteran newspaper man, Is editor.
According to the Seottsbluff Re
publican, a young man of that coun
ty went to (rering, the county seat,
to secure a license to wed, but upon
his return home he found 1 hat the
county Judge had given him a sub
po 'tin Instead of a marriage license.
The annual convention of the Sher
idan county Sunday school associa
tion for this year will be held at
Hay Springs, Friday, July 19.
The Llsco Tribune is the name of
a newspaper which first saw the
linlit of day at Liseo, Garden coun
ty, last week. It is an eight page,

The Dawes county Sunday school
convention for this year will be held
at Chadron, Monday and Tuesday,
July 22 and 28.
