FINANCIAL STATEMENT
How the Expenses of Tabernacle
Meetings Are Met
As an argument to be used a
a1nat voting for license, the tem
pt ranee people had cards printed
to be handed out to the voters on
election day last week. On one
side of the card was printed this
Question; "llonext. nVW, fe the sa
loon necesssry to your business?"
and on the other side was printed.
"What has the saloon done for
you?" the Inference being that '
Is not necesaary to other lines ti
business aiid that it is a benefit to
no one.
There is one man i:i .Milan e who
is engaged in legi'imato business
who denies the i input at ion. On Wed
neda morning followtag the city
election. Judge Zurn, police m
irate, allowed The Herald edi r
one of these cards on which he had
written answers to these two i u ts
tions. Following the question "Hon

your business?" he wrote "Yes '
To the 1 Uu r question was this an
swer, "Paid fine's."

Whenever a meeting such as is

comes up as to how the expenses
will Le met and how much they
will amount to. Those who usually
object to fluch meetings often com
plain that they are a detriment be
cause they take money out of
town. It seems rather peculiar
that many persons making such ob
