There has been plenty of rain late
ly and the corn and late crops are
doing nicely.
Miss Margaret Qulgley Is visiting
at the Phelps home this week.
The Phelpa young people gave a
party laat Thursday night which was
enjoyed very much by all who attend
ed. Claim Agent W. L. Phillips wan In
Bftlmont Monday, settling a few
claims.
B. H. Miller and wire are visiting
In this neighborhood this week. They
Intend to return to their homo In Io
wa within a few days.
We hear that O. C. Miller, who
has been sick for the past two
months. Is Blightly better now.
Edgar Nation, who has been sick
the last month, accompanied his
brother, Will, to Minatare where he
will stay until he fully recovers. We
understand that the rest of the fam
ily are about well.
Earl Nation and family were out
picking berries last week. He had
tied his horses In an old stable which
was washed away by a cloud burst,
drowning the horses. Mr. and Mrs.
Nation had to climb to high ground
to save themselves.
George Evans wasupfrom Ft. Rob
inson the other day and made the
people of Belmont a call.
W. J. DeWItt has Just returned
from Plattsmouth, Nebr., where he
bought and shipped home some reg
istered red Pollan cattle. They are
cortalnly a dandy bunch.
Frank Dlehl was out at his place
west of Belmont Sunday. He reports
that he has some fine potatoes.

Jack Blery Is home for a few days.
J. G. Lemons and wife returned
home from Alliance last week.

Henry Hollcnrick and wife and
Miss Eva Ellsworth, from near Mars
land, were up to the dance Saturday

Mr. Fred Davis, of Grand Island,
Nebr., Is visiting his many friends
this week.
Miss Knight and Miss Horn re
turned from tiering, Saturday, where
they spent a pleasant week at the
institute

and at present is Deputy County
Treasurer.
Mrs. Columbia Cogar waa among

Wilfred Cofer took manual training
in Gerlng last week.
The government ditch has broken
again in Wyoming so we do not ex
pect our Nine Mile men buck for
siiiue time now. They were prepar
ing to come when this happened.
QUAKER VALLEY
em Nebraska. passed away last
Tuesday. The funeral services were
iieid at the home where a large
crowd gathered to pay their last re
spects to the departed, after which
the body was taken to Alliance for
Interment.
Miss Beck has returned from her
visit In Colorado. 8he reports a
pleasant time.
Howard Beck and family have re
turned home from the eastern part
of the Plate, where they have been
vlBltlng Mrs. Beck's mother.
Mrs. Eastgate, who has been visit
ing with her children in different
states, is again with Mrs. Dr. Church
Ill. Two or three have sent in bids
for the mall route between Reno and
Hewitt.
Thomas Vantrese and family will
spend a few weeks In Alliance.
We hear they nre to have a church
building at Reno. Reno Is Improv
ing. Our merchants have in new
boxes for mall and are bringing
things up-to-date. They are paying
18 cents for butter and 20 cents for
eggs.

Robert Ashford moved to Hemlng
ford, Monay.
The infant daughter of Mr. and
MrB. John Derr died Thursday a. m.
and was buried Friday in the ceme
tery at the Carpenter church.
Mallnda had a real show Friday
evening, held In the Swanson opera
house.
Quite a number cf our people went
to the show In Alliance Saturday.
Another heavy rainfall this week
put the ground In fine shape for
the corn and spuds.

Range 47 West, In Box Butte coun
