Last year some crops were good, others were poor. This year rye and some other small grain has been Injured by dry weather; but the late small grain, corn and potatoes are doing fine, and pasture Is good. Many other sections, even In low er altitudes, have suffered worse from drought this year than this country. A heavy rain In New York within the last few weeks broke the drought. In some portions of east ern Nebraska and Kansas, consid ered reliable as agricultural districts, small grain was badly damaged by lack of rain early In the season. The elevators will be practically idle and the threshers will have but a short Job." The drought in Missouri has be come so severe that Governor Had ley has been requested to appoint a day for prayer for rain.
