L. W. WAKELKY, G. P, & .Omaha
The Herald is In receipt of an in
ten sling and encouraging letter from
Kcv. G C. Jeffers of Mecklenburg,
N. Y., formerly pastor of the Alii
ance Baptist Church. As many of
out readers will be interested in the
contents of the letter we give the
following extract from It:
"I have been thinking for some
time of writing you in the way of
congratulation on your enterprise In
installing a Merganthaler typecast
iBg machine. Your papei took on
a ;cw and improved nppearance at
oikc. The increased amount. of
r .l iable material was also very
maikcd. You are also to be con
gratulated on your editorials, par
ticularly those touching moral and
religious questions, both ot a public
and private character. On these
yo'i take the right stand, It seems to
me. They are fearless exponents of
truh. Jnst the attitude every
no vspaper ought to take, for they
ate the molders of public sentiment.
Let the newspapers have a low mor
al standard, and yo t will find a low
moial tone In the community. Editors
ltk ministers, must be clean moral
am: religious men fc fulfill their
high calling.
"Some of your renders, at least,
will be interested in matters touch
ing our family life. For the past
ye.M, Mrs. Jeffers has been very
poorly most of the time. Frequent
ly 1 have thought she could not stay
wi h BM long; but for the last two
months, her condition has very
greiUly improved, .She is now able
to lo all her work easily, with the
litlie asftstance 1 render. She is
able to go to church again, a thing
she has not done before In six
months. Your humble servant Is
veiy well tndeed. For these un
speakable mercies, We are devoutly
tha.Kful to our tovtag Father. Our
son who has been In the newspaper
work for the past twelve years, has
been called to be ai sistant superin
tendent to the Win. Roger's Mfgrs.
of silverware, Niagara Falls, N. Y.
"We still have a oeep and abiding
interest in Alliance nnd her people;
ho.ee, we want Hit Herald. Thru
thin medium, we wish to express our
best wlahes to all our many Alliance
friends. God bless you all."
