Modern Shopping
It is the wise housekeeper who has a
Bell Telephone. She finds that it is as
useful in the home as in her husband's
place of business. The time of person

Belle Telephone has taken their place.
Modern methods of social and business life demand
that your telephone shall be connected with tele

should convince you of the value of its service.

County Cantral Committee Meeting

Big doin's in Alliance this
week.
Let's not quarrel over poli
ticsnot till after the fair is
over, anyhow.
The "Potato Carnival and
Boosters' Day" celebration at
Hemingford last Saturday was a
big affair, and we congratulate
the boosters of our sister city
on their success.
Is n't this great weather for
the county fair? Could n't be
better. That rain last night
came just in time to reduce the
temperature, which has been
quite warm for a few days past,
and lay the dust.
Alliance has become noted as
a place of great celebrations and
entertainments, and when any
thing of the kind has been well
advertised people from the sur
rounding country and neighbor
ing towns Hock here in large
numbers.
To the many county fair vis
itors in Alliance this week The
Herald extends a most cordial
welcome. "We hope you will all
have a splendid time, keep so
ber, and when you return home
do so none the worse for the
visit, but with a good opinion of
our city.
One of the most gratifying
things about the fair this year is
the increase in the number of
farm exhibits, including agri
cultural products and live stock,
and of domestic products. A
county fair that consists entirely,
or even principally, of races
does not come up to our ideal of
what a county fair should be.
It is unfortunate for the races
that the date of the Box Butte
county fair this year is the same
as that of the race meets at Har
rison, Nebr., and Belle Fourche,
S. D. Otherwise a good many
horses that are at those places
this week would have been
brought to Alliance, and some
that are here would have been
taken to those places, also.
