Mrs. C. T. Richardson of Alliance is
a new subscriber lo the Herald.
The Woman's Club will hold its ret,"
ujar meeting Friday afternoon nt the
home of Mrs Potnath.
The special Civil Service examina
tion for clcrkB and carriers will be held
on Saturday, September 17th, in the
assembly room of the central school
building, beginning at nine o'clock in
the morning.
Mrs. Lois 1. Riley returned last Fri
day from a verv pleasant visit at the
home of Mr. and Mrs. Lore, in th
Moffitt neighborhood. She" has been
employed in Alliance as a trained nurse
for several years, and the few week's
vacation was very much enjoyed.
The Alliance Roller Rink still con
tinues to be popular. The attendance
on week days except bunday runs
about 12s per day and 225 per day on
Saturday. The management has put
in a big stock of new skates and hand
les the crowds very well. Because of
good floor nnd well heated room a good
patronage is assured for the winter.
Eat Pardey's white, light and whole
some bread.
After the first of October the
Woman's Club will again begin collect
ing and destroying cucoons. This was
done last year and two cents paid to
boys and girls for collecting them.
This vear the price has been raised
and five cents per dozen will be paid.
This is good work and should be en
couraged. Pardey's cottage bread is baked by
expert bakers and is good to eat.
Sell Fine Player Piano
The Bennett Comyany, through Mrs.
J, Wilker, manager of the local branch,
recently made sale of a fine mission
style plaver piano to R. B McLannon
of Alliance. This instrument is a
beauty and cost $650. Player pianos
are getting more popular encli year
aud in the last few years rapid strides
have been made in their mechancial
operation. It is now possible for ex
perienced players to get the same if
not better effects than by hand.
Saves the housewife work and worry
Pardey's cottage bread.
